Interesting discovery on my G35

Today I was under the hood checking the oil and doing a random visual inspection around the engine bay. Thanks to the afternoon sunlight, I happened to notice a name plate with lettering welded onto an exhaust runner on the passenger side header. (only side visible as the intake blocks the drivers side) Woah.

The name plate had “STRUP” pressed into it and upon closer inspection with a work light, the tubing looks nicely formed too. Sooo... apparently some prior owner installed aftermarket headers on my car. Sweet... I hope they last a while and dont crack on me.

Nope but I’ll probably be looking underneath sometime just cuz. Its also confusing why someone would go through all the effort just for headers and touch nothing else. I’m wondering if the owner (by the slimmest of chances) also upgraded the ECU with a tune to benefit the header(s) install.

As long as they keep in the exhaust gasses. Ha!

This would be the second car I’ve purchased that had been stealthily modified in a positive way.

the engine was probably blow’ded so guess what your car isnt numbers matching anymore and no collector wants it.

I knew a guy with a VERY heavily modified Passat. Parted the performance parts out, and sold it as a “Unmolested” car.

I helped do that on 2 cars from memory. Suspension swaps between RX-8s are not fun. Another time I straight swapped seats between my friends Integra and my own Integra... because he didn’t like his GS-R’s seat pattern lol.
